ADVANCING CARDIOMETABOLIC HEALTH FROM EAST TO WEST
Date(s) – 05/17/2019 – 05/18/2019
8:00 am – 3:00 pm
CMHC West: Advancing Cardiometabolic Health from East to West will take place from May 3-5, 2019 at Sheraton Grand at Wild Horse Pass: Arizona’s premier Native-American owned luxury Phoenix resort, and a venue that provides attendees a unique opportunity to learn about the Native American culture. Built and designed to be a visually & structurally authentic representation of the Gila River Indian Community’s heritage and culture, the resort celebrates the architecture, design, and legends of the Pima (Akimel O’otham) and Maricopa (Pee Posh) tribes.
Not only is the venue devoted to cultural sustainability, with tribal heritage woven into each aspect of the resort, but the conference agenda will additionally focus on aspects of cardiometabolic health specific to indigenous communities. While sessions will spotlight the most recent results from clinical trials, delivered through thought-provoking and innovative educational formats, the event will feature a keynote address from highly distinguished public health professor Spero Manson, PhD on diabetes in the Native American population: designed to connect attendees with the geographical area’s culture & proximate healthcare communities. With topics ranging from obesity & and lifestyle medicine to diabetes management, CMHC West represents a diverse learning environment—and a can’t-miss event in cardiometabolic care.
